‘The Notebook’ Convinces Jessica To Dump Nick

Moving on from targeting Britney Spears’ wild antics, Carson Daly made Jessica Simpson the butt of his jokes during his ‘Last Call’ monologue on Tuesday night.

“Well, Jessica Simpson said that she decided to leave Nick Lachey after seeing the movie ‘The Notebook’. That’s kind of weird. Also, after seeing the movie ‘Shrek’, she decided to get her own talking donkey. Jessica Simpson is still an idiot. She is. She is. She’s still an idiot. Still? Okay. Still an idiot. By the way, I think we explained that joke just for Jessica Simpson. She’s the only one that didn’t get it. ‘Oh, I get it.’ She’s at home going, ‘I am. I’m still an idiot.’”

This monologue was prompted by Jessica revealing that she made the decision to split from her husband of three years, Nick Lachey, after watching the movie “The Notebook.”

My question: How can you allow a movie to determine the fate of your marriage? Doesn’t your marriage seem a bit more…important?…and real?…and: important? than the script of a movie?

Obviously, I’m still hung up on Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson’s divorce.
