President Obama is “Hurt” that Jess Replaced him
The fact remains that singer/actress Jessica Simpson has been more popular and talked-about this past few weeks than she was in all the months last year. The media has already speculated that this was due to the fact that she had been playing a purely support role (some say “second-fiddle) to quarterback boyfriend, Tony Romo, in 2008. But now, Jessica is back in the limelight due to the “Weight-Gate” scandal. Hey, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, right?
The fact that President Obama knows who she actually is and what she’s going through, is a sure sign that singer/ actress Jessica Simpson is tremendously popular nowadays.
While he was doing an interview with Matt Lauer, newly-inaugurated US President Barack Obama, jokingly expressed disappointment that he was replaced by Jessica Simpson on the cover of Us Weekly magazine. The cover showed the rest of the Obama family (his wife and two daughters), but instead of his picture, it showed Jessica during her Chili Cookout appearance.
Us Weekly writes in its latest issue:
“President Barack Obama joked that he was crushed to be cut from the cover of Us Weekly to make room for Jessica Simpson. ‘Yeah, it’s a little hurtful,’ he quipped when Matt Lauer showed him the newest issue of Us Weekly, on stands now, featuring a portrait of his family. (Obama is featured in the picture that runs next to the story - which focuses on Michelle - inside the magazine.) ‘You got replaced by Jessica Simpson!’ added Lauer, who sat down with Obama before the Super Bowl aired Sunday on NBC. ‘Who’s in a weight battle, apparently. Oh well!’ Obama said.”
While some say the he was “dissing” Jess and her “issue” some feel that this was a signal to stop arguing over something so significant that it can be joked over. ‘Nuff said.
