Pete Wentz’s Fall out Toyworks!
Lesson: Do not put a famous musician and an acclaimed designer in one room, and then leave them for more than a few hours. And oh, also, do not blast the music of said musician inside the room while you’re at it.
Why? Because then, you might have a comic book similar to Pete Wentz and Darren Romanelli’s “Fall Out Toy Works.” Which isn’t exactly a bad thing.
You would think that with FOB, a fashion line, and a music label, not to mention a son and a wife under his belt, that Pete Wentz would be too busy for anything else. But apparently not.
In September, Pete will join with Image Comics to publish a five-issue comic book miniseries, titled, “Fall Out Toyworks.” What’s it about? Well, the concept is vague, but it seems to have a mysterious toymaker, a cyborg named Tiffany, and a kid in a Bear Suit reminiscent of the cover of FOB’s newest album, Folie á Deux.
This is the concept hatched by Pete and famous Los Angeles designer, Darren Romanelli, and will be written by Brett Lewis, who is the author of hits like, The Winter Men and Bulletproof Monk. Sam Basri and Imaginary Friends Studios will handle the art.
Anyways, from the picture, Toyworks seems to take place in a futuristic Tokyo and centers on the relationship between Tiffany, the boy in the bear suit, and the toymaker, who put them all together. And according to Wentz, it’s also loosely based on Tiffany Blews, a song from Folie.
“Me and Darren came up with the idea of creating … a world around ‘Tiffany Blews,’ ” Pete reveals to MTV News, “It’s more than a comic too. In the end, it will be a graphic novel, clothing, Web site and possible toys themselves.” Wow! Isn’t he the inspiring entrepreneur?!
