John Mayer’s Excited, Daddy Joe Keeps His Mouth Shut
Double Grammy winner John Mayer was in a gregarious mood on Sunday night (February 11), where he and his fans congregated in a pink-hued outdoor cabana at the Sony/BMG post-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
The most enthusiastic buzz occurred when Mayer excitedly greeted girlfriend Jessica Simpson, now a brunette, with a bear hug and lip lock, as daddy Joe and sister Ashlee watched. But the excited buzz wasn’t over the liplock. It was over Daddy Joe’s ability to not interfere, the way he did when Jess and Nick were together.
When the Simpson family drifted off, the shaggy-haired John Mayer, who was clad in Armani and held an ever-full cocktail glass, met with the Dixie Chicks. Then he huddled with Chris Daughtry, chatted up Clive Davis and traded style notes with Wyclef Jean. Who knew that John Mayer was such an extrovert?
But John Mayer’s main topic of conversation wasn’t Jessica - it was his upcoming tour. “I’m going to mix things up, do some different arrangements of the songs,” he said.
I wonder: is this new change in his life the work of the beautiful Jess? It seems until now that John has been quiet about his life and his plans.
