Jess and John in Australia

Jessica Simpson, who is sporting a brunette hairdo, arrived in Australia yesterday by the side of her boyfriend, singer John Mayer. John performed the first show of his Australian tour in Perth last night.

Jessica, who split with her husband, Nick Lachey, in late 2005, has been dating John for about nine months. The couple had kept their relationship under wraps until New Year’s Eve when they were photographed embracing, kissing and letting their hair down at a party hosted by pop diva Christina Aguilera.

Jessica is expected to spend about five days in Australia before returning to the United States, but her tight schedule means that she is unlikely to be with John when he arrives in Melbourne on Saturday for his show at Vodafone Arena. Next Sunday he is scheduled to perform at the Point Nepean Festival.
