Yahoo news just reported that the rumors are true - Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are engaged! Here’s the scoop:

Ashlee Simpson and her rocker boyfriend Pete Wentz are engaged.

“We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best,” Simpson said in a statement posted Wednesday on People magazine’s Web site. “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged.”

Simpson’s manager-father, Joe Simpson, told the magazine he’s “totally happy” and “so excited to have Pete as part of (our) family.”

The couple began dating in fall 2006, according to People.

Wentz, 28, is bassist for Fall Out Boy. Simpson, 23, a singer, songwriter and actress, is the younger sister of pop star Jessica Simpson. Ashlee Simpson’s new album, “Bittersweet World,” is set for release on April 22.

A phone message left Wednesday for Joe Simpson by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.

Earlier this month, Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo were hiding out in Hawaii. This wasn’t just a “for fun” vacation, though – the couple were there together while Tony was playing for the NFC team in the Pro Bowl.

They look cute together, and that’s all I have to say. This is one of the few pictures of Tony Romo where I actually think he looks attractive. But that’s just me. (more…)

Jessica Simpson & Tony Romo were spotted together not only once, but twice this past Thanksgiving weekend! The couple showed up at Jessica’s grandparents new home in Waco, Texas, on November 23rd, reports In Touch Weekly.

The family visit followed dinner at Dragonfly in Dallas the evening before.

It’s always been said that timing is everything, but in the world of Jessica Simpson, this phrase is especially true.

A source close to the blond bombshell says that like her hookup with John Mayer, Simpson’s recent “dates” with Owen Wilson are meant to drum up good favor in the court of public opinion. “When Jess last had a new album coming out, that’s when she was introduced to John. She’s got her first country album coming out, so now she’s been conveniently introduced to Owen, who is a fellow Texan. Better yet, the public is sympathetic to him.” (more…)

Oh, wow. So, it would seem that I have this blog, SimpsonWatch.com. And I’m supposed to post on it about Ashlee and Jessica.

Except…I kind of kept putting it off, and putting it off, and there was just so much more interesting things to write about Britney Spears, and so I kept putting it off…until finally, I remembered: hey. Didn’t I used to write a Simpson blog also? I should really get on that.

So…what have Jessica and Ashlee been up to lately? Not much, truth be told. But I’ll still share some tidbits with you:

Ashlee, it seems, is left denying rumors whether she’s ever used Botox. This seems kind of obvious, she’s only 23 after all, but the rumors started swirling and now she’s trying to do damage control. So she’s saying, “NO, I DON’T USE BOTOX” and crediting her eyebrows to her makeup artist. Whatever. Do we really care about this? I say: No. Moving along! (more…)

Bam Margera, the star of Jackass and Viva La Bam, has come clean about his romance with Jessica Simpson. Bam and Jessica were romantically linked in 2005 while Jessica was still married to Nick Lachey. Bam is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Missy Rothstein, and we all know that Jessica is, unfortunately, divorced from Nick.

Jessica has always, always denied the rumors of a romance with Bam. Bam has adamantly boasted that he and Jessica briefly dated. Recently, Bam started talking about their brief romance again - and he came clean about the truth, admitting that his fling with Jessica ended when Bam’s former fiancee discovered the affair. I know, I know. I couldn’t believe it either. What’s more, I couldn’t find anything to back up that claim, other than other gossip sites. Allegedly, More magazine (which doesn’t make sense, because it is for women ages 40+, and Jessica Simpson is like HALF that age, but whatever) has reported that the singer-actress wants to be artificially inseminated with the help of her long-term friend Ken Paves. Star magazine’s recent UK edition of its magazine has a full spread on Jessica Simpson’s biggest regret: divorcing Nick Lachey. The magazine even goes so far as to claim that Jessica wants to win Nick back and is currently scheming how to go about doing that.

Oh, Ashlee. Honey, you’ve been with Pete long enough, everyone knows that you’re a couple, and you’re worried about some floozie in a low-cut top and short, short, shoooorrrrtttt skirt taking a picture with Pete?

Sources say that Ashlee Simpson is the jealous type, and proved it last weekend in Chicago. She and Pete Wentz stopped by the Blender Sessions at the Hard Rock Hotel to help Crobar Chicago co-owner Mike Matushcka celebrate his 40th birthday. While they were there, Ashlee laid down the law and refused to let ANY girl come between herself and her man. According to rumors, any time a female fan tried to take a picture with Pete, Ashlee would whine and drag him away.

That doesn’t sound like a woman who’s very secure in her relationship.

My prediction: Ashlee and Pete are on the rocks. Expect a breakup soon!

I guess someone had their wires crossed because Ashlee Simpson denies the pregnancy and engagement rumors that have been buzzing around the internet. Too bad, I bet she’d look adorable with a baby bump!

Ashlee Simpson has quashed rumours she is engaged to Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz or pregnant with his baby.

The Hollyscoop girls cite a source that says, “Ashlee wasn’t expecting it at all, it was a total surprise,” a blab said. “Pete whipped out a big engagement ring, dropped down on one knee, and asked Ashlee to be his bride. Ashlee says it was romantic, sexy - and that she said yes right away.”

The pair began dating earlier this year (07), with gossip websites in the U.S. alleging Wentz had proposed to the singer before his band’s performance at the Live Earth event earlier this month (07Jul07).

Wesbite Popcrunch claimed the engagement was kept a secret because of the failure of sister Jessica’s marriage to Nick Lachey, which ended in divorce in 2006.

But a spokesperson for Simpson tells UsMagazine.com Wentz and Simpson’s engagement rumours are “absolutely not true”.

The ‘Fall Out Boy’ frontman, who celebrated his 28th birthday party at his newly opened New York hangout Angels and Kings on Tuesday night (05.06.07), reportedly entered a bathroom cubicle with Ashlee for a steamy session.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: “Ashlee and Pete got a VIP escort to the bathroom and jumped the queue.

“Pete joked, ‘We’re going to puke. Seriously, we’re both going to be really sick’ as they pushed to the front of the queue.

“They went in together and everyone waited patiently. They were in there for a good 10 minutes.”
Ashlee bought her man a very special gift to mark the occasion.

Pete said: “Ashlee got me a Revenge of the Jedi poster. I’m kinky and it’s like, in Star Wars originally ‘Return of the Jedi’ was called Revenge of the Jedi, and then George Lucas decided that revenge was not a Jedi-like trait.

“So she bought it for me. I think it’s sweet. It’s awesome.”

The rocker and friends Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travis McCoy and Yellow Fever clothing designer Jamison Ernest opened the bar in April.

Pete said at the launch party: “It will be a bit of a dive, which we need. We finally have a place where all our loser friends can hang out!

Ernest added: “This will be a place that anyone can go and have sex in the bathroom and not get in trouble.”

Jessica Simpson and John Mayer have ended their romance – again, and this time for good. Possibly. “It has been rocky and it had been rocky, and it reached the end of the road,” a source close to Mayer said. “It is definitely over – the relationship has ended.”

Those on Simpson’s side confirm that the romance has come to an end, but say the door is always open for the pair to reunite. “They broke up Sunday night, but who knows what the future will hold,” says a Simpson source. “This is the twelfth time they’ve broken up. Their relationship is volatile. Last week they felt better than ever. This week, things are rocky. Who knows what the future will bring. ”

Simpson, 26, and Mayer, 29, have been together about a year, though were coy about the relationship until recently. Just last month, the couple split, but then only days later appeared to have reconciled after a heavy round of emailing and talking.

“They tried to make it work. They dated for a year,” says the Mayer source, who adds that the couple’s time together in New York and more recently in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico were an attempt “to talk things over.” But that was then. Now, says the source: “It’s over.”

Simpson’s pal says the singer is “used to” the back and forth with Mayer by now. “She love [John] but she has to be true to herself.” As for any reason’s behind this most recent split: “Every relationship has its differences, but with Jessica and John those differences were starting to become more and more apparent,” says the Mayer source.
