Starpulse: Give Jess a Break!

Awwww…it always gives me a nice feeling when someone defends celebrities against too many issues.

This time, it’s Starpulse Entertainment’s writer, Kristen Schoels who takes the 28-year old singer/actress’s side as she writes an article entitled, “Writer’s Viewpoint: Give Jessica Simpson A Break.”

Read on:
Can we lay off of Jessica Simpson already, has the girl not been through enough?

The tabloids scrutinize her every move; this week she’s too skinny, a week later she’s too fat. She wants babies, she needs an engagement ring, she’s not smart, she filled her lips, her boobs are huge, Tony Romo cheated! The list could go on and on.

Maybe she doesn’t always say the smartest things and she may have questionable fashion sense sometimes- who doesn’t? The point here is that she’s not a drug addict, she isn’t seen falling out of clubs wasted, and she is a healthy weight. Not to mention the fact that she appears to be a better role model than the Britney’s, Lindsay’s, Paris‘ of the world.

We need to cut J-Simp a little slack and focus on more important things like: Why does Madonna continue to pump Botox into her face? Why doesn’t Lady Gaga ever wear pants? Or more importantly- Why do girls continue to date John Mayer?

And I’d have to agree with her. Critics should stop laying it on thick on her and give her a break already. Jess may not be a perfect girl, but how is? And yep, she is in better shape than Brit, Lindsay, and Paris. At least she has a family who is loyal to her, a steady (more or less) boyfriend, and a good designing career. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for her singing career. But keep hanging on there, Jess! It’ll get better in time.

Jessica’s Daisy Dukes Back on Track

Jessica Simpson Daisy Duke outfit

Aside from entertaining her fans and granting the wish of one US Air Force staff, Jessica Simpson’s Florida Strawberry performance earned her a spot in the magazine covers. Three magazine covers, in fact. So don’t be too surprised if you see her face in the magazine stands when you line up for your groceries.

Though her concert may have gotten mixed reviews from music critics, the 28-year-old country singer’s looks were a hug hit!

The blond diva put to rest rumors of a weight gain the minute she took the stage. At least three celebrity Web sites ran photos and stories on Simpson and the Daisy Duke short-shorts she wore during her hour-long concert.

Here’s what the web sites have to say:

TMZ.com: “While we can’t speak for the ‘performance,’ at least her body is rockin’”

EOnline.com: “Jessica Simpson performed last night March 8 at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Fla., in itty-bitty denim cutoffs and a corset so that everyone would say good things about her. (And they are!)”

ExtraTV: “Simpson’s weight became a topic of national attention when she was snapped looking a little heavier at a chili cook-off earlier this year.” The Web site included a photo of her at the festival and a brief article said she “rocked” the stage in her skimpy outfit.

Jess wowed the audience with her outfit composed of her trademark Daisy Dukes (which are cutoff shorts, really, short-shorts) and push-up bustier, topped with an overly-large brown plaid shirt, and accessorized with shiny bling-blings.

E! Online Rises to Jess’s Defense

E!Online’s Answer Bitch, a column, which is known for its straightforward, and sometimes sarcastic, remarks on celebrity goof-ups, has done a 180 degrees turn, and actually defended Jessica Simpson’s forgetfulness of her own song lyrics.

Writer Leslie Gornstein states that, “For you, loyal Answer B!tch reader, the world is about to turn upside down: I am about to rise to the defense of a rich celebrity,” showing that this does not happen quite often.

She writes:

“Jessica Simpson operates very differently on stage than most of her fellow singers. How? Well…

…unlike most singers, who keep on belting and hoofing even if they flub a line, Jessica insists on stopping everything and starting all over again.

“She’s a perfectionist,” her publicist told me today. “She frequently starts over even if she messes just one word up. She wrote these songs, and she wants the audience to hear it perfectly.”

In other words, if she had just done what every other live performer had done, and kept on going after singing the wrong word, would we be having this conversation? Would anyone have caught her mistakes and written to me about them?

Also, bear this other fact in mind: Many, many singers prerecord backing tracks or high notes of their songs just in case their voices give out during a show. If you’re hearing Simpson stop a song and start all over, she probably isn’t relying so heavily on those tricks.

If that argument doesn’t move you, well, fine. How about this: Simpson is in some very distinguished company. Kanye West, Britney Spears, Barbra Streisand, Miley Cyrus, Tori Amos and Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran have all forgotten lyrics while live on stage. John Lennon forgot the lyrics to “Don’t Let Me Down” during a famous rooftop performance. And the great Lucinda Williams says she brings lyrics sheets with her.”

Most Requested: Jessica’s Boobs and Ashlee’s Nose

Recession? What recession?

With the onslaught of costly surgical operations going on, one will have to wonder if there indeed is a recession plaguing the nation. Dr. Alan Freedman, Bellevue Medical Center’s renowned reconstructive surgeon, revealed to the New York Post that despite the worldwide financial and economic crisis, he did not fall short of clients who want chests like Private Valentine star Jessica’s or a reconstructed nose like Outta My Head hitmaker Ashlee’s.

This just proves to show that beauty can now be created under a skilled surgeon’s hands, instead of leaving it to the whim of nature and the complexity of genetic inheritance. A recent survey says that kids are willing to go under the knife because of the desire to have the incredible body parts that their favorite celebrities have.

Call it the incredible influence of TV and movies (and the entire media as a whole) on our generation, but more and more kids are willing to undergo surgery just to look like the actors and actresses that they see on screen, According to the survey, the most requested are: Angelina Jolie’s pouty, kissable lips, Jessica Simpson’s big yet shapely cleavage, and Ashlee Simpson’s perfectly reconstructed nose.

But it’s actually also a fact that more and more celebrities have gone under the knife themselves to enhance their looks and to look significantly younger. Jennifer Aniston and Ashlee, who have both changed their looks with a nose job, have essentially encouraged fans to do the same to attain their preferred look. Even botox had become a huge hit! What, with the likes of Meg Ryan and Nicole Kidman, and Brittany Murphy, who have been plumping their faces with the treatment, which then gave their fans the incentives to try the treatment for themselves too.
