Yahoo news just reported that the rumors are true - Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are engaged! Here’s the scoop:

Ashlee Simpson and her rocker boyfriend Pete Wentz are engaged.

“We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best,” Simpson said in a statement posted Wednesday on People magazine’s Web site. “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged.”

Simpson’s manager-father, Joe Simpson, told the magazine he’s “totally happy” and “so excited to have Pete as part of (our) family.”

The couple began dating in fall 2006, according to People.

Wentz, 28, is bassist for Fall Out Boy. Simpson, 23, a singer, songwriter and actress, is the younger sister of pop star Jessica Simpson. Ashlee Simpson’s new album, “Bittersweet World,” is set for release on April 22.

A phone message left Wednesday for Joe Simpson by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.

Bam Margera, the star of Jackass and Viva La Bam, has come clean about his romance with Jessica Simpson. Bam and Jessica were romantically linked in 2005 while Jessica was still married to Nick Lachey. Bam is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Missy Rothstein, and we all know that Jessica is, unfortunately, divorced from Nick.

Jessica has always, always denied the rumors of a romance with Bam. Bam has adamantly boasted that he and Jessica briefly dated. Recently, Bam started talking about their brief romance again - and he came clean about the truth, admitting that his fling with Jessica ended when Bam’s former fiancee discovered the affair. Nick Lachey has been very busy of late. The hunky singer has been in damage control mode since photos of Vanessa Minnillo and him romping around and streaking outside of a Mexican villa were published. Many fans of his former wife Jessica Simpson and Nick as a couple are hoping that may drive him back to Simpson.

A new report claims that Jess feels the same way. OK! Magazine reports that it has been a year since Jessica Simpson’s divorce to Nick Lachey became final. Now, the pop princess is telling friends that it was the biggest mistake of her life.

Ok, poor Ashlee Simpson has rumors flying everywhere at the moment about her. Here’s another one. She might be engaged to Pete Wentz!

Nothing’s been confirmed, so hold off on having your head explode for now, but sources tell Pop Crunch that Wentz proposed to Simpson backstage at Live Earth before he performed with his Fall Out Boy bandmates. “Ashlee wasn’t expecting it at all; it was a total surprise,” says the source. “Pete whipped out a big engagement ring, dropped down on one knee and asked Ashlee to be his bride. Ashlee says it was romantic, sexy - and that she said ‘yes’ right away.”

“Ashlee and Pete are desperate to keep the engagement quiet for as long as they can so they can make wedding plans in peace,” says a pal of Ashlee’s. “All she wants is a simple ceremony with her family, his family and a handful of people.”

Nick who divorced Jessica Simpson in June 2006 has finally won a “yes” from his girlfriend of one year, Vanessa Minnillo. “Nick brought up the topic again when he and Vanessa were celebrating Valentine’s Day,” says a source close to the couple. “Nick asked Vanessa to move from her hom ebase in NYC to be with him in L.A. At the same time he asked her for her hand in marriage.”
