Jessica Simpson has her daddy, Joe, to thank for her new love, quarterback Tony Romo. A pal of the bubbly blonde said, “Joe and Tony have been friendly for a while. Joe is a huge Dallas Cowboy fan, and Tony has always had a crush on Jessica - he even said on his Web site like a year ago that it was his dream to date her.

Joe Simpson and Pete Wentz whooped up on some bodyguards who hassled their beloved Ashlee Simpson the other night.

It happened when the group was trying to leave a party at the Mirage. Bouncers let Ashlee, Papa Joe and boyfriend Pete pass through to get to their waiting SUV, but they stuck out their arms and stopped the rest of their entourage. Pete demanded that they let his buddies through, screaming “This is my car! I paid for this car!” along with some choice expletives. (more…)

Jessica Simpson’s dad Joe talks about the many “interesting” roles Jessica has been offered over the years:

She’s always been herself on camera, but Jessica Simpson isn’t ready to show all of herself on camera.

“The last script that came to us was for Jessica to be a porn star,” Jessica’s father and manager, Joe Simpson, told PEOPLE at Thursday’s ABC Television Critics Association party in Beverly Hills.

“We were promised we would win an Oscar with that,” says Simpson, 49. “I was like, ‘Eh, we’ll just buy a [statue of a] little man and keep our clothes on.’ ”

Since she shot to fame in 2003 with ex-husband Nick Lachey on MTV’s Newlyweds Jessica Simpson, 27, has been receiving quirky TV-show proposals “every day,” according to her father.

“We’re pitched those a lot,” he says. “There are a lot of cool ones, and a lot of really strange ones.”

Currently, Papa Simpson is promoting ABC’s fall series The Women’s Murder Club, which he is producing with Rush Hour director Brett Ratner. No plans are underway for Jessica or her younger sister Ashlee Simpson, 22, to appear on the show.

“They’re very busy, and they’re happy,” Joe Simpson says of his daughters. “Jessica has three more movies to shoot; she has a new record coming in September. If the right role came up, of course, we’d never turn that down.”

Are Jessica Simpson and Lane Garrison more than just friends? Just Jared would have you think so, but don’t be too quick to believe ALL the celebrity gossip you read.

Truth is, Jess and Lane grew up together. At age seventeen, Lane left his parent’s rule and moved in with the Simpson clan - Joe and Tina took him in. From that perspective, Jess and Lane are practically siblings. (Of course, the same thing happened with Ryan Cabrera, and that didn’t stop Ashlee from sinking her teeth into him.)

Jessica Simpson and her family visited the Casa Hogar Elim Orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on March 25, 2007 to donate a new minivan to the orphanage. Jess looks really cute here, and genuinely happy to be helping others.

Creepy daddy Joe Simpson has gone on record claiming his daughters will never end up in rehab like fellow has-been Britney Spears.

Joe — father, manager, origin of all future therapy bills of celebri-thingys Jessica and Ashlee Simpson — has spoken out on Britney’s recent personal and professional woes, which have culminated in a rehab stint, the World Entertainment News Network reports.

While feeling empathy for Brit, Joe believes his daughters would never follow the same toxic path as Spears.

He says, “I would never let that happen to my daughters. Hopefully, her family will take care of the situation.”

Last Wednesday, February 28, 2007, John Mayer held a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City - and guess who came along to keep him company? Jessica Simpson (and her micro-managing father, Joe).

After the concert Jess & John headed to an after party at NYC hotspot Stereo, where it looks like rounds and rounds of drinks were collecting on their table! (See pics after the jump!)

Hopefully Ashlee Simpson doesn’t read Blender magazine, or doesn’t have a problem with her rumored boyfriend kissing everyone.

The bassist for “Fall Out Boy,” Pete Wentz, has revealed in an interview that he will kiss anyone, no matter what their gender is.

When asked if he has kissed a man, the musician replied, “I have. Anybody above the waist is fair game.”

Wentz, who has been spotted with Simpson on a variety of occasions in Los Angeles, also talked about his sex life.

He revealed, “When I’m with somebody, the caveman in me wants it to be completely deviant. Like, ‘Oh this isn’t supposed to go in there? Then that’s where it has to go.’”

Let’s hope Daddy Joe Simpson doesn’t read this.

Double Grammy winner John Mayer was in a gregarious mood on Sunday night (February 11), where he and his fans congregated in a pink-hued outdoor cabana at the Sony/BMG post-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The most enthusiastic buzz occurred when Mayer excitedly greeted girlfriend Jessica Simpson, now a brunette, with a bear hug and lip lock, as daddy Joe and sister Ashlee watched. But the excited buzz wasn’t over the liplock. It was over Daddy Joe’s ability to not interfere, the way he did when Jess and Nick were together.

This site will chronicle the public lives of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson.

First, you should know that I was heartbroken - h.e.a.r.t.b.r.o.k.e.n. - when Nick and Jessica split up.

Second, you should know that I’m still secretly hoping that Jess and Nick get back together, sans MTV reality shows, so that they have an actual chance at a healthy marriage.

Third, every time I see a picture of Ashlee Simpson, I am confused. Is that really her? Why does she always seem unrecognizable to me? I really think she would do well as an undercover FBI agent. Especially if she got to wear fun costumes.

Fourth, daddy Joe Simpson is a tad bit creepy. Even as much as I love Jess, I have to admit how I feel about him.

Fifth, there is no fifth. But wouldn’t it be nice if there were?
