Jess’s Q&A in Scottsdale, part 3

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

launching

With her tour (erm, Rascal Flatt’s tour actually, she’s the opening act) finished, Jess is back to promoting her perfume, Fancy. Her first stop was in Scottsdale, where hundreds of fans waited to meet and greet the Do You Know singer. This is the last part of her interview with The Arizona Republic, which happened before the promotional event itself. So here it is. Enjoy!

Do you feel pressured to be wearing your own designs all the time?

No, that’s definitely not a pressure for me. I want to represent the line and I feel like I am always putting something in my look. Our jewelry is really great right now. We have lots of fun things that you can mix and match and wear with everything.

What labels other than your own do you enjoy wearing?

Gosh, there’s… honestly, I like it if something fits or looks great. I am not a person who tries on in the stores. It drives me crazy. So I buy and take back if I don’t like something. I really don’t enjoy being in the dressing room. I rather just try it on in my house.

Which trends are you loving for spring?

I think all the colors and, to me, all the patterns that are simple, yet you can wear them every spring.

What accessory would you suggest our readers invest in this season?

I have to say that the new Jessica Simpson hats are awesome, and I just worn one yesterday coming here. I can just not do my hair, and put my hair up in this hat and I just love it. It is a fedora but comes down and covers your right eye.

Alright, so here’s the second part of pop-turned-country singer, Jessica Simpson’s Q&A session with The Arizona Republic. Before she greeted hundreds of fans on Saturday afternoon, the Pray Out Loud songstress talked about her new dress collection for spring and her personal style.

How hands-on are you in the design of your products?

I go to a lot of approval meetings. I just got off tour, so my mom’s definitely really, really hands on and if there is something she can be in a meeting for and I cant, she’ll send me pictures and I will say yes or no or change this. I really want to represent who I am. It’s my name. I don’t want something out there that would make any consumer feel uncomfortable.

You have shoes, sunglasses, bags, clothing and more - what’s next for you?

Actually, we are doing coats for kids. Already right now we are connected with Stride Rite shoes for kids. Now we are getting into coats, but I am anxious for the luggage. I am always traveling so I can’t wait to put my Louis Vuitton stuff aside and actually rock some Jessica Simpson going through airport.

Is the success of your collection exciting for you? Are you just so proud?

Yeah, I definitely am so proud. It was risk, but I think when you surround yourself with amazing people that know the market and know what the consumer wants, it works.
I literally don’t wear flats but one of my biggest shoes is a flat, so I’ve had to take myself out of what I would wear and think of the consumer.

Jessica Simpson is back to promoting her diverse range of products. Last Saturday, she went to Scottsdale to promote her perfume, Fancy.

Jess proved that she still has some drawing power when hundreds of fans flocked to Dillard’s, Scottsdale to meet and greet their curvy idol. Together with her mom, Tina, the Do You Know singer signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans.

But before she went to Dillard’s for the actual promotion, Jess, being her friendly and bubbly self, sat with The Arizona Republic’s Ginger Murphy for a quick Q&A session on her product collections.

Here’s the first part. Read and enjoy!

Question: What part of your personal style shows through in your collection?

Answer: I think that my personality shows through in every piece that you could buy in the Jessica Simpson collection. I am very hands-on and very much involved. Yesterday, we just had an approval meeting for dresses and there are certain things you want to change and certain things, you know, women will feel comfortable in. Nothing really gets past my mom and I if we don’t want it on the floors.

Which dress in your new line is your favorite and why?

Um, that’s really hard. I love the dress that I am wearing today because it’s fitted, elegant and sexy. I think that women of all ages could wear this dress. I like to spruce it up with Louis Vuitton bracelets. What’s amazing, even during this recession, is how the collection just keeps getting bigger. I think that when people go to buy something, they get definitely get great product with an affordable price.

jess-announces

The recently much-hyped about singer, Jessica Simpson, made her first live TV appearance since her “weight gate” issue on CBS’s The Early Show, last Wednesday morning.

The singer/ actress sang her newest single, “Pray Out Loud” for the show’s audience, saying that the she is true to the message of the song. Jessica’s camp made explicit instructions about not wanting to focus on the “controversy”, and as the show’s co-anchor, Maggie Rodriguez discovered, Jess is not focusing on it t all.

This is a short transcript of Jessica’s appearance on the show:

Maggie: Such a beautiful song did you write that song?

Jessica: I did. I co-wrote that song.

Maggie: When you’re down, do you pray out loud?

Jessica: Absolutely, I grew up with my father being a youth minister, so as a family we’d always pray out loud together.

Maggie: Last time when we spoke, you were in New York getting ready to launch this country turn, and you weren’t exactly sure how it would go. You have to be pleased with how much support you’ve gotten from the fans.

Jessica: Honestly, I am right where I am supposed to be and I am so very happy. Right now, I’m out on tour with Rascal Flatts having a blast. We play Madison Square Garden tomorrow, and everybody is warm and welcoming and I get lots of hugs. I like that.

Maggie: I know. And you look so beautiful as always. I’m always amazed. You look absolutely beautiful. Everything going OK for you? I know you have been through a lot lately.

Jessica: No. Everything is really great. It’s all about keeping the faith. That’s why I pray out loud, as my single.

You have to hand it to this girl, she has spunk! She became the center of quite bad attention, but still, she manages to hold onto her faith and keep on doing what she’s set out to do, not only for herself, but to the fans who still love her. You go, girl!

Ashlee Simpson has come a long way since being a style wallflower in the shadow of older sister Jessica. “I used to look at a beautiful girl on the cover of a magazine and think I could never be that,” the 23-year-old singer tells Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now.

But Simpson – who has churned through countless haircuts and colors over her six years of stardom – has graced recent covers of Cosmopolitan, CosmoGirl! and Seventeen. Now she’s the cover girl on Us’ 2008 Beauty Makeover Special issue, which includes 30 pages of bonus makeovers, tips, and star style.

“I definitely embrace my sexy side, but at the end of the day, I still feel like the girl next door,” she tells Us. “I like to get dressed up now, and that’s something I’ve never been into before.” Simpson also opens up to Us about her April 2006 rhinoplasty. “I think as long as people have two eyes, then you probably know the answer,” she says.

“[Plastic surgery] is something that everybody should think about for a really long time,” she tells Us. “Once you know it’s something you really feel comfortable with, then to each their own.” Still, the singer downplays her own transformation. “I was never really unhappy with how I looked, [and] I don’t think I am more beautiful than I was [before],” Simpson tells Us. “I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day.”

I’m Not Sure I Believe What I’m About To Tell You About Jessica Simpson

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Jessica Simpson is reportedly planning to have a baby with her gay hairdresser.

jessicaandken.jpg

I know, I know. I couldn’t believe it either. What’s more, I couldn’t find anything to back up that claim, other than other gossip sites. Allegedly, More magazine (which doesn’t make sense, because it is for women ages 40+, and Jessica Simpson is like HALF that age, but whatever) has reported that the singer-actress wants to be artificially inseminated with the help of her long-term friend Ken Paves. Jessica Simpson’s House in West Hollywood

Jessica Simpson’s home, located in West Hollywood, is absolutely gorgeous. I love how lush the backyard is - like her own private escape - with a pool that is both modern and perfect for swimming laps, dipping your feet at the water’s edge, or hosting a pool party. I mean, all people do at pool parties is lounge around, right? And it’s perfect for that. (more…)
