Jessica Simpson and her Daisy Dukes

Okay, one of the roles that helped put Jessica Simpson on the charts as an actress was her role in the 2005 movie, The Dukes of Hazzard. That was Jess’s first movie, and naturally, she must have felt some apprehension on stepping into the shoes (or in this case, shorts) of a popular television show character.

So let’s look back on what Jess felt on the day that she wore the legendary Daisy Dukes.

On what she did to when she found out that she would play Daisy: Yes. The first thing I did when I found out…I ate a huge piece of chocolate cake. And I was like, “Okay, I’m done. All right, here I go! Let’s go to the gym!” (I would’ve done the same thing. If I knew that I would be on a strict diet and go to the gym for months on end, I would definitely pig out, say goodbye to my favorite comfort foods, then get to work.)

On her work out for her role: It was pretty grueling…I worked out for two and half hours a day, six days a week, for about two months. (Ouch.)

On her signature Daisy Dukes pairs that she had to try on: I tried on over a hundred. And I had to take Polaroids of all of them.

On what made her decide what pair to wear: Well, it’s the ones that the girls like on the butt and the guys like on the butt. (Oh yes, Jess. I bet that almost all, if not all of them, of the boys who watched the movie have you and your shorts as there fave parts. And that’s a compliment.)

On her alleged shyness and the revealing outfits she had to don for Daisy: That was the biggest challenge for me. I mean, that was me acting. To just “strut my stuff” in that…that’s very much not me. I like my little dresses, you know. So that was pretty much the hardest part about doing the movie.

A Look Back: Jessica Simpson in The Dukes of Hazzard

I always wondered what entered Jessica Simpson’s mind when she did her most famous role to date: Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard.

Personally, I thought that it was a pretty funny movie filled with slapstick humor. It wasn’t my cup of tea because I always did like the ironic, sarcastic humor where the movie-goers had to digest the line being said and the ones who got it usually laughed and the ones who didn’t, scratched their heads. And most of the time, it always ends up with me doing all the laughing and the others scratching their heads. But that brand of humor can’t be found in The Dukes of Hazzard. Especially Jessica Simpson in her awe-inspiring Daisy Dukes shorts.

Of course, with all of you who are familiar with the television show, the shorts were a signature on Daisy Duke. But seeing the singer/actress in them, made me see that she owned them. In fact, it has become particularly associated with her.

Anyway, I unearthed this interview way back in June 2005 between Jessica and some members of the press. I’ll just give you some of the things that Jessica said that left an impression on me.

On her big leap from music to TV to movies: This is a huge deal. I’ve been on Cloud 9. I’ve had so much fun. I can’t even sleep because I’m so excited and anxious for everything right now.

On the difference on making a movie: Well, it’s new territory. It’s like having a new car or something. I’ve enjoyed every moment and it’s been…honestly, I can’t even find words to tell you how happy I am to be in this position. (Oh well, three movies later and all of them not doing that exceptionally well in the box-office, I hope that Jess still continues to find the excitement in making them.)

On her first day on the set: My first day on set, I had a lot of butterflies. I only had like one line or something, and I was so scared that I was going to mess it up that I thought about it way too hard. I was nervous that I was going to fall in my heels or rip my shorts or do something stupid. But it all went really smoothly. My first day was with Seann and Johnny, so they were very encouraging the whole time. (From what I gather, the cast were quite close to each other, and I’m glad that Jess still had butterflies but was able to conquer them.)

Jess began the day by attending an autograph session at Dillard’s Stonebriar Center (in Frisco, Texas - just northeast of Dallas - I wish I could have stopped by!) to promote her latest designs in her new fashion line. Her pup, Daisy, stayed by her side throughout the appearance. (more…)

It turns out that Jessica Simpson’s new film, “Blonde Ambition” has had its release date pushed back twice because the movie is so bad.

A source told that, “Jessica was not very focused on-set and flubbed her lines often. She always had her dog around, was on the phone with [then-] boyfriend John Mayer or was sitting in a warmed-up SUV.”

The film is now set to come out the last week of August.

Jessica Simpson and John Mayer try to re-kindle their romance on a getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico but things did not go according to plan. These photos show John and Jess having a fight on the balcony of their $2,400 dollar-a-night ocean-front Villa. John holds Jess’s dog Daisy while the couple has an obviously emotional talk. Afterwards Jess holds her head in her hands in tears.

Jess Still Filming Blonde Ambition

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

jessica-simpson-blon-set-18.jpg

Jess is still in New York City (with her dog, Daisy) filming Blonde Ambition. We’ve got a ton more stills from the movie, though I’m a little confused because the last stills showed her with a big blonde bob. Now her wig is still big and blonde, but it’s long. Maybe she’s filming a section of the movie that is supposed to occur a couple years later? Let’s hope!

See pics after the jump.
