If you don’t believe in the healing powers of love, believe this (or at least entertain the rumor): Ashlee Simpson saved her boyfriend, Pete Wentz, from depression and suicide. According to an article published by Stuff, Pete is ready to put his wild partying behind him and settle down.

Pete said: “I picture myself having a family now. Before, my dreams were about being in a huge band. Now, my dreams are of back yards and hanging out. It’s a progression for me, trying to figure out what’s normal.”

The 22-year-old - who has battled depression and prescription drugs - is rumoured to be engaged to Ashlee, also 22, and says he now has a reason to live.

Oh, Ashlee. Honey, you’ve been with Pete long enough, everyone knows that you’re a couple, and you’re worried about some floozie in a low-cut top and short, short, shoooorrrrtttt skirt taking a picture with Pete?

Sources say that Ashlee Simpson is the jealous type, and proved it last weekend in Chicago. She and Pete Wentz stopped by the Blender Sessions at the Hard Rock Hotel to help Crobar Chicago co-owner Mike Matushcka celebrate his 40th birthday. While they were there, Ashlee laid down the law and refused to let ANY girl come between herself and her man. According to rumors, any time a female fan tried to take a picture with Pete, Ashlee would whine and drag him away.

That doesn’t sound like a woman who’s very secure in her relationship.

My prediction: Ashlee and Pete are on the rocks. Expect a breakup soon!

Ashlee and Pete headed to Chicago this past weekend for a playdate at Lollapalooza. Check out the candid photos of the lovebirds at the concert! I usually don’t like Ashlee’s style when she’s out-and-about around town, but her black dress and hat are really cute this time!

E!Online has reported that Pete Wentz wants to be a model:

OMG, totally bum-gyrating news! Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy bassist, arm candy to Ashlee Simpson and accidental Internet exhibitionist, has signed with a modeling agency. A fancy-schmancy announcement went out to fashion folk announcing Petey is available for editorial and fashion endorsements. Hire him for your next schlong-swingin’ bachelorette party now! Seriously, though (at least, as serious as it gets at AT-ville), here’s our Sick-Sick Six list of things we think Pete is just perf to endorse:

1. Guyliner: You know, as in black eyeliner but for dudes. Petey-poo always smudges the smoky stuff onto his eyes, and it’s become his signature look. Some marketing wizzes should make liner just for men, so they don’t have to dig into their chicks’ makeup bags anymore, and get Pete to be the face o’ the bitchin’ new brand. Brills!

2. T-Mobile Sidekick: This little device, so popular with the Hollywood set, is what Pete used to take pics of his privates, which somehow ended up all over everbody’s laps, I mean laptops. P.W. could encourage the rest of Tinseltown to take pics of their own nether regions and release them, instead of waiting for paparazzi to snap them exiting a car. That’ll show those upskirt snappers, right, Britney Spears?

3. Skinny Jeans: Since this guy currently wears jeans tighter than Victoria Beckham’s, he should represent the threads, already. Plus, with all the contracts certain fallen celebs have lost and Lindsay Lohan is bound to lose due to her little DUI scandals, some denim company should be needing a spokesmodel very soon.

4. Hair Products: This guy’s coif always looks like it’s been loaded with goop, slicked, spiked and flat-ironed to pissy perfection. He can even have his own line of hair extensions, à la Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton! Classy.

5. Pens: Because this dude’s got oodles of tatts, he could so totally give inky Bics some street cred, right? Kids can draw their own temporary tattoos on, just like Pete’s!

6. Condoms: And since Trojan, so far, apparently declines to sponsor this column’s Blind Vice section (which advertises penis-pokin’ activities out the wacky wazoo), I thereby cede my raincoat-sportin’ biz desires to Mr. W. Till the end of the summer, at least. A magnum magnifique idea, n’est-ce pas?

Lately, every time I see a picture of Ashlee and Pete, I have to admit that I’m liking them more and more. And that is kind of hard for me to admit, because in general I really don’t like Pete, and I find Ashlee the tiniest bit annoying, which is why I don’t really comment about her personally a lot on this site.

But now? My whole plan of cynicism is RUINED, because I’m starting to like them. Both. Well, as a couple, at least. So, to celebrate, here are some candids of the pair having coffee a week ago. Because I’m generous like that.

Last week, Ashlee Simpson and her rocker boyfriend, Pete Wentz, were seen leaving the restaurant Toast. The two look happy together, despite recent rumors of their engagement and pregnancy. Both have denied the validity to either rumor, but we’re still holding out hope for the happy couple!

Ashlee recently went shopping at a mall with a friend, where paparazzi caught up with her and a friend. She’s seen here riding an escalator, which really isn’t all that interesting, but check out the way she’s pretending she doesn’t see them. The funny thing is that she OBVIOUSLY wanted the attention, because why else would she bother going to a mall full of people when she can be doing some power shopping on Rodeo Drive? That’s what I want to know.

In other news, I totally love her pink shoes.

Jessica Simpson is a big spender, she recently admitted to Harper’s Bazaar — big surprise there. But the singer/actress also revealed that while sister Ashlee “goes to a thrift store and can buy something for 20 bucks … I have to go buy a black button-down at Barneys. For $900. Because it’s a collector’s item,” she said in the magazine’s August issue, which features Jessica on the cover. When asked which career she would pick if she had to choose between music and movies, she replied, “In my music career, there have been moments of failure, and with acting I haven’t had that yet. But music is opening up my heart and every emotion inside of me.”

I guess someone had their wires crossed because Ashlee Simpson denies the pregnancy and engagement rumors that have been buzzing around the internet. Too bad, I bet she’d look adorable with a baby bump!

Ashlee Simpson has quashed rumours she is engaged to Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz or pregnant with his baby.

The Hollyscoop girls cite a source that says, “Ashlee wasn’t expecting it at all, it was a total surprise,” a blab said. “Pete whipped out a big engagement ring, dropped down on one knee, and asked Ashlee to be his bride. Ashlee says it was romantic, sexy - and that she said yes right away.”

The pair began dating earlier this year (07), with gossip websites in the U.S. alleging Wentz had proposed to the singer before his band’s performance at the Live Earth event earlier this month (07Jul07).

Wesbite Popcrunch claimed the engagement was kept a secret because of the failure of sister Jessica’s marriage to Nick Lachey, which ended in divorce in 2006.

But a spokesperson for Simpson tells UsMagazine.com Wentz and Simpson’s engagement rumours are “absolutely not true”.

My Miami party spies tell me the vixen—surrounded by bodyguards—refused to answer any questions without her mother, Tina, present. (Isn’t that the polar opposite of Britney Spears?!) With sis Ashlee a no-show, Jess controlled the spotlight, looking amazing and making guys jealous by focusing all her flirtations on mane man Ken Paves.

Yesterday we reported that Ashlee Simpson may be engaged to Pete Wentz. But now it looks like she could be more than just engaged…

The National Ledger has reported that Ashlee may be carrying Pete Wentz’ spawn - the rumors began when Ashlee was seen continually rubbing her belly. The report also notes that at a family wedding on 7-7-07 (they skipped the Paris wedding of Eva and Tony to stay at home with the family) sparked rumors that she might in fact be pregnant. “Ashlee may have helped start the rumors herself…She was at a family wedding and was wandering around rubbing her belly. And she refused to drink anything.”

Ok, poor Ashlee Simpson has rumors flying everywhere at the moment about her. Here’s another one. She might be engaged to Pete Wentz!

Nothing’s been confirmed, so hold off on having your head explode for now, but sources tell Pop Crunch that Wentz proposed to Simpson backstage at Live Earth before he performed with his Fall Out Boy bandmates. “Ashlee wasn’t expecting it at all; it was a total surprise,” says the source. “Pete whipped out a big engagement ring, dropped down on one knee and asked Ashlee to be his bride. Ashlee says it was romantic, sexy - and that she said ‘yes’ right away.”

“Ashlee and Pete are desperate to keep the engagement quiet for as long as they can so they can make wedding plans in peace,” says a pal of Ashlee’s. “All she wants is a simple ceremony with her family, his family and a handful of people.”
