Ashlee’s Album Portraits

Ashlee Simpson recently did a photo shoot — not for a magazine, but for her upcoming album — and WOW! These photos turned out incredible. I’ve put them in order, from my favorite to my least favorite, though I have to admit that even my least favorite is pretty good.

I’m not sure how much these were photo-shopped, but I’d love to see the “before” shots to compare them. Photoshop is a lifesaver for that kind of thing.

My favorite photo is the one posted above – I love the warm, golden tones of Ashlee’s skin and hair, the metallic texture of the background and the stark black polo. Ashlee skin looks flawless in this photo! LOVE!

My second favorite is the photo of Ashlee in boy shorts. I think that this pic is just fun and flirty, I love that it’s black and white, I love the way they used the top hat – kind of tilting off her head – and her pose is teeming with personality and youthfulness. The only thing I don’t get are her lips. I think she could have made an “excited” type of face and it would have pulled off the look better. Rather, she just kind of looks like she’s trying to look sexy with her lips pursed, and that’s just not what the rest of the photo conveys.

My third favorite is the photo with the red hoodie. It’s quiet, subdued, a little mysterious. This photo makes me want to listen to her music just to get to know her better. She looks a little shy, and yet mischievous, and if that’s the look her photographer was shooting for (ha, pun intended), I declare it a success!

My least favorite, the fourth photo, is cute, but it just seems like a typical musician’s photo. Maybe it’ll be on the inside cover, maybe it will be set as the background behind the printed lyrics. I don’t know. But it just didn’t seem as original as the first three.
